Ranks

Dec. 1st, 2013 05:31 pm
While Erudito doesn't have any internal ranking system (that we know of), the Assassins and Templars do. They are:

Assassin
Mentor
Master
Assassin
Apprentice
Initiate
Novice

Templar
Grand Master
Master
Advisor
Knight
Cleric
Disciple

The list of of ranks listed here is shorter than the "Canon" list (which can have as many as 15, depending on the specific game you get your info from.) It's been shortened to make things easier and more clear, as many rank titles in canon are repeated at dramatically differing levels of ranking.

Bear in mind that these ranks are relatively loose, with the exceptions of Master and Grand Master/Mentor. The vast majority of Assassins and Templars will be in the lower ranks, and there are a maximum of 3 Grand Masters or Mentors at any given time.

On boosting your rank:

For the first four ranks on either side, feel free to move up (or down) as is fit for your character. Moving to Master (Assassin/Templar) requires a certain activity standard: double activity with the character ranking up for at least 2 months (2 posts or 60 comments across no more than 3 posts/logs).

Mentors and Grand Masters will be invited to take said rank by mods from the existing pool of masters.
The Gospels is set primarily in near-future Vancouver, BC, one of Abstergo's main bases of operations. Seattle, not far over the US/Canada border houses a number of Assassins who filter back and forth between the two cities. Thanks to modern technology, of course, it's entirely possible to travel nearly anywhere in the world in a matter of hours--which is good, because you're going to be doing a lot of globe-trotting in between your visits home!

With enough money and the right connections, characters can travel anywhere in the world they want to. Make sure to take your satphone when going to those remote locations without good cell reception!

Have a character in mind you would like to play? Post it here!

Players may reserve up to two characters at a time. Each reserve lasts 2 weeks before expiring.

A ★ denotes a challenge app.

If you need to take a hiatus, post about it here. The longest someone can go on a hiatus is 4 weeks, any longer than this and you will need mod approval. Back to back hiatuses must also be mod approved. Note that simply posting about a hiatus in the ooc community, while polite, does not count.

Upon return please comment to your status or contact a mod.

If you are dropping a character, please also post about that here.

Known Pieces of Eden and their uses:

Apple #5 - Previously in the hands of Ezio Auditore, now in the hands of the Assassins; was used primarily in Ezio's time as a way for Minerva to speak to him, but like all other Apples, can be used to physically and mentally compel subjects into certain actions. Its current specific location is unclear, but is most likely with a cell somewhere in North America.

Shroud of Turin - A tattered piece of cloth, apparently linen, that helps dramatically accelerate the healing process in humans. Due to its deteriorated state and religious significance, it is little used and difficult to access. It is currently located in Turin, Italy.

Staff of Eden / Imperial Sceptre - This Piece of Eden was (theoretically) destroyed by the Assassin Nikola Tesla in the Tunguska Incident. Records on its specific uses have been lost, but it was likely used for the same purpose as other staves: to compel loyalty in followers, not entirely unlike Apples. Its last known location was Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia.

Ankh - The Ankh, like the Shroud, was used to accelerate the healing process, and could even "resurrect the dead." This is not a true resurrection, however, as bodily functions soon (within 24 hours) cease again. It's current location is unknown, but suspected to be somewhere in Central or Eastern Europe.

How to obtain and use a Piece of Eden:

For the most part, obtaining Pieces of Eden will need to be coordinated as player plots, as PoEs transfer from Templar hands to Assassin hands (or maybe Erudito hands or independent faction hands?). For the moment, the only PoEs available in game are the ones listed above. Further PoEs will be gradually added to the game through events, which will require certain action (or, potentially, inaction) from the players. These events usually come in the form of puzzles or a series of riddles to be solved (in keeping with the style of the source games); more details regarding each will be introduced with the associated events. Be prepared to collaborate with other members of your faction, as it's unlikely any grouping of puzzles can be solved by an individual!

As for using Pieces of Eden, while anyone has the potential to activate a PoE, only people with Precursor genetics have a chance to control them (and even then, imperfectly), so use at your own risk. Side effects include: injury, being reduced to a vegetable, severe hallucinations, and death. Is it worth risking that just to control a few civilians?

To Al Mualim it was. Maybe you'll feel the same once you have one in your hands and can feel the power and potential hidden within.
